Chocolate Brownie Batter Hummus


  • Measuring spoons
  • Mesh strainer or colander
  • Can Opener
  • Food Processor
  • Rubber spatula
  • Large mixing bowl (optional)
  • Potato Masher (optional)


  • 15 oz garbanzo beans 1 can, drained
  • 4 tbsp coconut milk from a can or a carton
  • 5 tbsp raw cocoa powder or cocoa powder
  • 3 tbsp maple syrup or to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • apple slices pretzel sticks or homemade cinnamon tortilla chips to use for dipping


  • Mix all ingredients together in a food processor, scraping down the sides as necessary, blend until smooth
  • Transfer to a serving bowl
  • Enjoy!


Take It Down A Notch: This recipe is easy for a PreK or young Tiny Chef to complete. For a more “hands-on” experience, put all the ingredients together in a bowl and let the kids mash it together with a potato masher. You will still need the food processor to make it completely smooth. Kick It Up A Notch: This recipe is very short and simple. For older Tiny Chefs they can practice slicing apples or make their own homemade cinnamon tortilla chips.
